Whilst chilling out, about 300ft up on a recent explore in the City with Palace Fan , I point to an unlit structure in the distance....
'wass that one then ? ' I asked
    'dunno.....' says Palace Fan

A little look to each other as we mentally added this unknown structure to the 'list'.......game on

This is your standard Big Company, City Centre HQ Tower.
It and some surrounding structures are being demolished to make way for a new grand 500ft structure , nicknamed the 'Walkie Talkie'.
Scheduled to start construction 2008.....the existing site is currently being torn down...but the shell is still intact to the roof level, along with alot of asbestos debris on the lower floors

Checking out the structure a while back we noted that a crane was being erected outside the building....presumably to help with the demolition....this of course got Palace Fans heart racing !

The perimeter is reasonably well guarded and there was a chance of guard dogs on the inside as well.....( according to the warnings).
I came prepared with a Pepperami snack stick....hopeful that if the dog didnt want to eat it I could eat it myself..do an extremely spicy belch and make the poor hound pass out.....as it happened we saw no canine activity.

The lobby roof has an interesting structure

The ground level is a building site and the surrounding ground is being cleared, I expect for the eventual demolition of the structure

The levels are being gutted....debris everywhere, but we had to admire how spacious and how nice the natural lighting would have been when it was all intact with all this glass.
We got an excellent view of the crane structure...which looked brand new.

Past the Restaurant level , ever upwards.....is a very interesting and very busy plant room. Most of the machines disabled....but a few still turning to power the lifts and lights.

And then , following the origin of the cool breeze.....to what is always the most exciting view.....the open route to the top !

Up on top , we have been spoiled recently with some of the best views in the country ( in my opinion).....doesnt matter how many times I see it.....its still as exciting and breathtaking.

Some great views to be had of the Thames and her bridges

The roof level has a service crane track all the way around its perimeter....with a central built up area with generators/plant and aircon units

Palace Fan .....checking out the views...

    and getting the shot....

Checking out the crane ( still under construction) from the top

A long and worthwhile explore.....for once, alot of the more interesting stuff wasnt on the roof.....but near the ground.

I'm sure Palace Fan is going to share some of his great work with you as well
Always a pleasure mate ! :thumb

... I was just waiting for my boss to p*ss-off before putting up the report. Beat me to it again. :thumb

Another great explore, although I was suffering from a lack of inspiration until we got to the lower levels and grabbed a couple of frames of the diggers and that amazing patterned roof.

DF described the site perfectly. Dog warnings were abundanted, but security of any type didn't seem to be. The digger shots were no more then 50ft from the security hut in the wide open and light yard. Entry easy, and for anybody wanting an easy high in the city, this has got to be the one.

Window boxes always make a nice feature.

    Cool and lots of em.

Highest point, so it had to be climbed.

    Brand new, and unmarked.

    DF, doing the business.

    Absolutely huge.
