Owned by the government of Iran, this building has caused much turmoil between governments in recent years.

'The council considers it to be in a dangerous state but demolishing the building has proved impossible.

"In terms of accessing it or being able to get a compulsory purchase order on the site like you would do ordinarily, they're just not options that are available to us," says Anstee.

The problem lies with getting hold of the building's owners. "It's diplomatic land," explains Anstee, "there's very little we can do."

Once a beautiful well kept site with greenhouses, swimming pools, and several outbuildings - it has been left to rot becoming described as an 'eyesore' by it's surrounding residents.
Surrounded by woodland and huge posh mansion houses with private drives, it's safe to say us little northerners felt a little out of place taking several wrong turns on our journey..

Having researched on-line for reference photographs and to get an idea of what to expect, it would be fair to say this one was a little bit of a disappointment. Most reports I managed to find were dated back to 2005-2008, so much more of the building was standing and in better condition for an explore.

"Thieves have long since stripped it of anything of value. It's been vandalised, used as an illegal dumping site and set on fire at least three times. The last big arson attack in 2011 was so bad that it caused the top floors to collapse into the basement." - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35152399

(You can see some daylit phoyographs on the bbc link I have provided.)

"It was bought by the Iranians in the 1970s. The consul-general lived there at one stage and it was beautifully maintained, says Amir Barik, a senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University who used to work for the consulate: "The biggest parties in Manchester used to take place in that house."

I Couldn’t gain assess without damage unfortunately, and I’m not much of a climber, hence my disappointment. As you can see in the photographs - it's very boarded up.

Mock-Tudor mansion built in the 1900′s, real thatched roofs and everything! Unfortunately spoilt by arson attacks over the years, the most recent being in 2014.

Literally couldn't find a point of entry, was hard enough with my little legs going over the fence. I plan on revisiting in the day time soon though hopefully feeling a bit more adventurous :)

There wasn't even a fence when I went and all the windows were wide open, everything inside is damaged from fire and water over the years, you missed nothing ! :)

Probably not a lot to see inside really with that kind of vandalism. Learn to climb though and it'll do you wonders in this hobby.
