Me and my mate went to GKN in Smethwick yesterday and discovered that all of the entry points that I'd painstakingly researched have all been sewn up tightly. Couldn't see a way in without the use of tools or a ladder (which I'd like to avoid for obvious reasons)

We were looking to get onto the central part of the site (i.e. not the northern part with the white & green GKN gate, not the southern part that's being demo'd to become a hospital, and not the northern part on the other side of the road...difficult to describe without giving away the location), but a few laps of the block showed that they've screwed most of the holes shut and plugged all the gaps.

So we're now wondering about access via the canal - i.e. round the back of the north eastern part of the site (that's still live), then drop down onto the unused canal arm, follow the towpath and get back up onto the central site somehow. The problem here is a bridge on the canal arm - looking on Google Maps, there appears to be a doorway through the bridge for the towpath, but it's impossible to tell whether it's passable or not. Has anyone tried this route and had any success? If so is it difficult getting from the towpath back onto the site?

Or the other question is: do any of the tunnels from the central part of the site come up on the north eastern part of the site?

The other thing is that I've heard rumours of some bomb shelters by the canal somewhere near the aforementioned bridge - has anyone got anywhere near these? How easy is the access?

    Cheers

If your talking about the site that is on the same side of heath street to the canal, it is in use for storage, so probably not a good idea... They are nasty men in that place I cab tell you.

The only access I've ever know about involved climbing down a pile of rubbish. Although this then lead to a police helicopter basically leading us back out again...

The northern part that (according to Google street view) has a furniture trade warehouse in it? Might have to go up the canal feeder itself then (i.e. behind their back wall)...I don't mean the part north west of there that has now been flattened.

Think I know the way you mean. There was a gate before I could even get onto that bit of road, locked up. Maybe because it wasn't in working hours. Think there was also a camera there.

Also the shelters are in the live container yard backing onto the main canal

Yeah just noticed the rounded roof in that yard. Probably not worth the risk if there are orcs in the area.
