Not the most exciting of sites architecturally but if you like graff then you are in for a mini-treat. This very long brick-built building is what used to be Attercliffe Tram Sheds. It was used for servicing the city’s trams when we had trams the first time around. The system closed on 8th October 1960 so this place has probably been derelict since the early 60s. The trams returned in 1994 in the shape of Supertram costing £240 million pounds. Ironically a new Supertram depot sits just over the fence next to the old one.

The building itself is not that interesting - it’s more to do with the fact that it now plays host to what can best be described as one long urban art gallery featuring some of Sheffield’s top graff artists (Coloquix, Mars etc). Beyond that, there’s not much to tell so on with the pictures.

Agreed. The Mars stuff is ace. Especially that massive wall end piece. Like Coloquix too. No Phlegm sadly...

I think if you"re gonna shoot some "Mars Graff" you should really include the "S" in the shot, it sort of ruins the effect really, along with the weird way you"ve either cropped/shot badly or funny angles of lots of the Graff you"ve shot, it makes it look :turd

You"re losing the impact the individual Art creates by being isolated ( as you can see by @ledgehammer offering, it creates impact as was intended by the Artist )

You won"t see any recent Phlegm Graff, i think that"s a forgone conclusion as he"s off doing bigger & better these days ?

One of his early ones in here was recently painted over in black paint by some Knob that obviously has either no knowledge or no respect for his peers :wanker

Even the City Library has replaced the Phlegm pieces that greeted people as they walked through the entrance. & many of his major pieces have been lost to the Sheffield demolition men over the last year :(

Nah...I disagree. I'm quite happy with the comps the way they are thanks. If I wanted just a "straight" documentation of the graff I would have indeed taken pictures like @ledgehammer. But I didn't want to. It was about the relationship of the art with the building itself. Despite choosing to decline your advice on photo comp, I do, however, respect your knowledge of Sheff graff artists.

Good call. Some of the best graff I've ever seen is at Lower Bradfield. This is the piece here innit?

That piece is by Sheffield artist Rocket01. He has an upcoming exhibition entitled 'Organics' from 26th November - 3rd December at Bloc Projects on Eyre Lane in Sheffield for anyone interested.

It's interesting to see the new pieces of art that crop up in here. It is a massive shame to see people dogging some of the really large pieces. Nothing will last forever and therein lies a big part of what gives street art such an appeal for those who follow it. There's been a lot of really good new work ruined down there because someone fancied a 'doodle'.

I miss seeing some of the Phlegm stuff around Sheffield, though I guess everything has it's time and place. It's all temporary.

Cool shots, I love having a wander round this place!
