The Mercure hotel, formerly the Ramada Renaissance Hotel, sits within the Piccadilly Plaza in central Manchester.

At a height of 184 feet the Mercure is 167 feet shorter than it's 351 foot big brother next door - City Tower - and it is only 33% of the height of Beetham Tower (The Hilton) which stands tall at 554 feet.

This was my first ever visit to a roof and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and peace and quiet up there - so chilled and it was a perspective of Manchester, a place where I work and live, I've never seen before.

Visited with lights_out and had a good photography sesh, I'll find out what all the buttons on this camera do one day ;)

    Top night.

Scotty, it's not vacant, you should still have a wonder over though.

    Cheers guys!

I've got to say I think out of all of the sub-types of exploring roof tops resonate with me the most, hopefully the first of many. I've pretty much only just started out in this lark and I've got an awful lot to learn before I can hit the stuff that leaves me in awe when I read some of the reports some of you guys on here put up - exploring is more difficult than it seems when you actually get out there ;) Start small and all that Jazz though.
