There's been a bacon factory here in various incarnations since 1911. Harris was the main employer in the area especially for unskilled work up until closure of the site in 2006 at the loss of 400 jobs. It's a large site with the main factory building at the centre and smaller buildings surrounding it including boiler houses, medical area and stores. There's also a few houses that belong to the site, one of which is badly fire damaged. The site has been home to travellers several times since then and is, expectedly, pretty much trashed. Nevertheless, it was a good hour or so for a mooch. We did manage to gain access to the main building but it was so unbelievably dark in there photos were all rather cack. Hope there's something here of interest!
