This gun battery was built in 1942 during the German occupation and housed four 15.5cm French field guns. The battery was sited here to fire on shipping in the channel and cover the beach of StOuen’s.

They wanted to fit more modern turreted guns but the war ended before they got chance. The complex was never finished but contained underground mess rooms, Comm’s rooms and two ammunition bunkers, all connected by a network of tunnels.

After the war the guns were dumped over a near by cliff by the British army, one of these has been recovered which took a team two summers to get back up the cliff.
The bunker has been restored and is run by the C.I. Occupation Society and is worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Mrs Reef (she wants me to point out she's pregnant not fat)

    Shell lift to the guns
