    Hi there!

I've recently started shooting on film and was wondering if anyone could recommend a website for development via mail. I've been using my local camera shop up until now but it's rather expensive.

    Cheers

Almost nowhere is going to be cheaper by mail, since you have to not only pay postage there but also postage back.
Think fujifilm still do mail-in film processing (used to be able to buy slide film that had the cost of shipping/processing etc. built into the price, bag in the box and everything, not sure if you still can)

I'm not sure fuji still do processing, the lab they used in leeds is still going but is nothing to do with fuji anymore. I think they have stopped E6 also.

Not sure where Mobutu is, but Peak Imaging have always had a good rep. A lot of Tesco and Asda still do c41 too. Avoid Max Spielmann like the plague.

I've been getting my negs developed by Max Spielmann for £2 and then scanning them in at home with a DSLR and macro lens, not had any issues to be honest...

The scanning yourself would avoid most of the problems I had, like colour print that was turned into black and white, or the slides that were scanned backwards. Unfortunately nothing could have saved the negatives that they scratched the shit out of..

Ugh. problem with Max Spielmann is that each branch is independent - the managers set the prices and each store has their own way of doing things. I've been quoted everything from £2 to a fiver (!) for dev only, and I think some of the stores don't do enough film to understand negative handling, or calibrate their minilabs.

The one in Liverpool city center is great though, they process a lot of 35mm (hipsters everywhere!) and know the score. It's also right by a Poundland so I can stock up on film while I'm there :D

Cheers for the replies! I'm using a place in hereford at the moment, they've fucked my negatives on more than one occasion. The scan yourself idea is good but I don't own a DSLR
