sorry OT for the ealier pic probs, hopefully this report is a little more sorted this time

i heard about this place a couple of weeks ago when a mate visited this place with a view to buying some railway track for a small preseverd narrow guage railway that we help run.
this placee was built around 1939 to build all kinds of armourments for the war effort.
its a valley in pembrokeshire in a small place called trecwn.
it has a main line railway running through the middle of the placce and once had 3 stations and employed nearly 3000 people.
it made all kinds of bombs and bullets ect for the war effort and were made in buildings on the site andstored in very large undrground tunnels with the help of several miles of narrow guage railway.

the site was sold in 1994 by the millitary to a company that made and tested jet enginges but the council wouldnt give perrmision for them to do that kind of work so it laid empty for 12 years befoe being sold to a developer.

an aquantence in the preservation world bought the rights to all the railway lines and stock on the site to resell into the preservation movement and has been there for several weeks removing track, so myself and a ouple of mates jumped into a lorry for a 5 1/2 hour road trip down to this place to buy 1 or 2 items. also armed with the cammera took a few snap, unfortunaley all the buildings were locked including the tunnels but did get some good outdoors shots

Re: trecwn valley wales report 30/10/07

nothing is active on the upper part of the site, but some of the lower units are occupied.
there is aa cartaker manager on site who worked there way back in the MOD days who looks fter the site and does a marvellous job of grass cutting.
the guy is quite approchable although he does swear alot which i though quitefunny.
