    There are 2 mills directly next to each other here, Both explorable and both worthy of a look, Borough and castle mills.

    we explored borough as the access was a little more "obvious" and we only had time to do 1 of the pair!!

    info on the net is sketchy, but it is listed in the 1891 graces guide as having 64,872 spindles, 16/421 twist. with the manager called Miles Crompton and the secretary as a S. Potter.

    more recently it has been used as a multilet business center for all sorts of firms including a building firm, a courier, a warehousing outfit and the oldham NDC (new deal for communities) covering hathershaw and fitton hill areas of the town.

    All in all well worth wasting a couple of hours on, but be quick!! its not going to be long in this world judging by this....
