    Brinksway Air Raid Shelter

I would like to give a big thanks to @Bolts for giving @Bigjames and myself the heads up on this site.

The Brinksway shelters were dug between 1938-9 as a precaution in the run up to war and expected to hold four to five thousand people. The tunnels were dug into the red sandstone, originally with eight portals. There are still hundreds of bunks lining the tunnels, many of these have already been broken down for scrap.

    I'm

a.) surprised this place has only just appeared on the radar as it was gaping and rinsed again many months back

b.) amazed it's not been tipped with a metric fuck tonne of concrete after all this time

Appears Stockport have given up
