We started the day early, neither of us really knew what we were going to find, arriving at the park, closed in 2012 Camelot suffered severe financial losses and decreasing visitor numbers. The decision was taken to close. We arrived outside the hotel entrance. Once inside the park we found a strange array of Mannequin parts. Following this we made our way into our first building, it appeared to have once been a queue line, most of the inside had been emptied out, we did find one of the ride cars from the former Dragon Flyer that had recently been removed from the station. The main doors to the castle had been boarded up and the bridge at the fount had collapsed, but we managed to enter the building through an entrance into the kitchen. Once inside the kitchen we were surprised to find that it still smelt like it was still being used to cook food for the visitors. The size of this building was remarkable, all that was left was some of the theming around the walls. And then we made our way into the main park towards what would have been Pendragons Plunge. From there we headed towards the jousting arena via the Round Table Restaurant, we completely missed the station of Dragon Flyer but we returned later in the day to see it, after visiting the jousting arena we made our way through what would have been the stables. After this we found ourselves heading towards the Driving School and the Food Court, at this point 'Shimmy' noticed a car near to Knightmare so we stayed low and entered the food court to stay out of sight, this building seemed to be fairly well protected apart from one of the doors had been removed (probably by vandals). Inside there was a sea of glass and broken tiles on the floor. venturing into the back of the restaurant we made our way past the 'walk-in' fridges towards the back exit. We now found ourselves in what would have been the main maintenance area for the park, the area features several little shed like buildings, a few of these were open, one of them was full of old signage from the park including all the Ice Cream menus. Next we found ourselves next to the ghost train. We couldn't resist a look around it (after all it was an abandoned ghost train :D). Inside it was still very complete, apart from the tracks had been removed and several sections of the roof had collapsed making the place very light.

Over all I took about 260 photographs, above are just a few of my favourite ones, in the end I didn't get the opportunity to go near to Knightmare, but it was a fantastic trip. Overall we were in the park for about 2 hours and didn't get spotted by security (Or if we did, they didn't seem to care). It is worth a re-visit just to get in some of the stuff that if missed.

    :-)

Good first report :thumb maybe an introduction to the Forum next ?

I know it's an obvious entry but we don't post access details on an public open Forum which could also give Secca info on access or detailed times when they could alter their routines preventing others visiting .....not that it maters much with this place TBH :)

Looks like you had a fun time in Plywood Fantasyland :D

Did you go next door to the Embassy ? If there's anything left of it

    Good first report.
As said, precise date and times not a good idea.

    Thanks for the feedback :)
I've taken the times out and the point of entry out of the introduction, we couldn't get any wear near to the Knightmare because there was a guard sat in his car right next to the coaster. Not that upset really, it is just an excuse for another visit.

    :-)

P.s. How do I change the title of the post?

just been very very recent and the car was parked in exact same spot a silver one. Also damn kids have burned one of main buildings down so security may be stepped up. Did get some awesome pics of the knightmare coaster. Was stood right next to it. Awesome place sadly vandalized by locals.

"Pendragons plunge" - Do they really?

Sorry, I'm an English stickler, Grammar Nazi, Punctuation perfectionist.

Anyway, I'll never ever ever get bored of looking at Camelot photos. Nice one.
