I thought I'd post some of my older Cane Hill photos on here to see what the place used to look like.

Views from the top of the tower during the 1999 solar eclipse.

Keyboard in admin block, that's my dad's handwriting. He was also held hostage in the same room by a guy with a stanley knife. Surprisingly, not a patient but the husband of a member of staff.

Corridor shot... we used to do all our exploring at night, which was idiotic in retrospect.

    What can I say!
Great to see some older stuff, nice to see the hall intact in the top one?
I take it if you had any from inside it you'd post them?

I lost a large amount of digital photos of the inside, some of them are on Simon Cornwell's site but a majority are gone.

I have a huge number of photos I need to scan, but I'm going to have to find time to do it and a scanner.

Both my parents worked there, my Dad until it's closure. My mum lived in one of the small flats on the upper floor of the admin block. I spent about 6 months living in the gatehouse where security now are down on Brighton road.

I spent quite a lot of time roaming the hospital as a child, I've got a large scar on one knee where I fell over on some glass outside one of the wards near the swimming pool.

So did I when I started, and now I can't work out why. I suppose I thought I'd get seen to easily!

Excellent pictures though, thanks for sharing. Just a shame it's so rotten in there now.
