I've been interested in this place for a few years now. Poping back every couple of months to see if anything had changed.
Nothing has in the 3 years I've been going. And by nothing I mean nothing at all. The grass hasn't grown, the bushes have stayed the same size, and all the boards are still in tacked.
Now I would have thought being in the Canley area of Coventry it would have been found be some local youths and turned into a pot house dump.

So I was wondering does anyone have or know anything else about this place?
All I know is that it was in use as "Canley Hall" in the 17th and 18th Century.
It was given a grade II listed statue on 24 June 1974.
And has been boarded up and in the state it is now for the last 20 years.

Once you see the picture you'll understand why I am so interested in this place.

Not a lot to say really - it is, as you say, old (17/18C) - and it's a farm house.

    You say:
Damien you clearly have a low opinion of the locals!! - but it is down a narrow, rather private, road in a conservation area, with close neighbours both sides that look after it - it's hardly crack-den territory.

    As you say:

But it was always the case that the neighbour cut the grass (and maintained the fencing/walls etc)

Indeed the neighbour funded the new fencing you see in this view:

    https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=CV...=T27xIUDvODixnetn9mfxvA&cbp=12,118.75,,1,1.87

That fencing is newer than the pic you put up - your pic is 6 years old.

There are not many pics of it on line - but the bushes are different length in all of them - so can't see any conspiracy theory there.

I remember it from before it was sealed, and it was in a pretty poor state then.

You can't exactly say that 'Canley' is one of the best areas of Coventry, considering quite a substantial amount of it is council owned.

I never said anything about a conspiracy, I simply thought it was strange that someone has been cutting the grass/hedges for the past 20 years, and not getting a lot back from it.

So you're saying it's not worth investigating any further?

I'm still interested and want to find out who owns it, and why it's been left like it is.

    Thanks for your contribution.

It may well be worth looking at - I was just saying that it was well run down when last lived in.

HOWEVER - I would strongly recommend that you wear blinkers (to avoid seeing a council house) and take some heavies (to avoid having to meet and people that may live in social housing) As you clearly have issues :)

Whoa - talk about pre-judging people - be warned mate - this website allows non-homeowners, black people, disabled people, and even females to join - sounds like you might find it a bit of a culture shock :)

I apologize if I may have offended some people with my comment. I was merely trying to quickly describ the area without too much detail.
I shall take back statment about the area. It's a lovely place really.
Next time I shall have to go in to more detail and remember to include everyone.

Then why didn't you "just say that"?
