Considering this site is a walk-in it's still a great place to visit. Plenty of interest and great artwork. It's a big old site to explore, so in-between torrential rain and beautiful sunshine (A typical day in Yorkshire) I did my best to get it all covered. A work mates father worked at Cannon some years back, and when he saw these pictures he was mortified at the transformation in his old workplace. I was last here just a matter of months ago and the place has gone downhill in that short space of time. A fine example of being present in the flow of time, every time these places are documented they've changed for the worse.
As a matter of interest to Blades fans the brewery was used as a shooting location for 'When Saturday comes' the fairly piss poor Sean Bean footy romp back in the 90's

    History
William Stones had started brewing in 1847 in Sheffield with Joseph Watts. Following Watts' death in 1854 Stones continued brewing by himself. In 1868 he purchased the lease of the Neepsend Brewery, and renamed it the Cannon Brewery, and he continued to brew there until his death in 1894. Stones' success saw him die as one of the richest men in Sheffield, although he lived a modest life. The company was taken over by Bass in 1968, then in 2000 Bass sold its brewing operations to the Belgian brewer Interbrew who were ordered by the Competition Commission to sell the Stones brand. In 2002, the brand was purchased by the American Coors Brewing Company, who merged to become Molson Coors in 2005.

Really nice shots there, must be one of the best spots for graff in the UK and it looks like there's a few new bits gone up since I visited with AR, nice report :thumb

Haha I'd forgotten about that, pulled back the curtain half expecting to find a junkie curled up in bed but they must've been out picking up their meds thankfully :D

Can anyone share anymore information on the guy living there, thinking of going here later in the week. Equally if I know someones living there I don't particularly want to disturb him when my and the boys go. He'll get a fright with our ugly mugs

    Hi dweeb,
Yes went into the gloomy cellars, knee deep in some places with old malt or some by-product of brewing by the looks of it (or a millennia of pidgeon crap) very dusty. If you're venturing down there a mask and a torch are a must. Always packed away in the 'splore bag along with gloves, lenses, tripod, anti-bacterial gel (wus), batterys and spice (confectionary for non Sheffielders).
