Dropped by with Maniac earlier this year after spotting it on the horizon while driving back home from the coast. The grounds around the building are walled off and as we witnessed later on, patrolled with some regularity. Our first plan to get into the grounds was foiled pretty quickly unless you were to pay a pretty exorbitant fee, so, after a walkabout to find alternative routes and a drink we headed over to a gasometer on the outskirts of town to kill some time until things got quieter.

Was windy as f**k up there so I left this to him. ;)

Gasometer was pretty cool, was being taken down at the time, managed to awkwardly climb over both the pallisade/barbwire combo fence and a security gate half way up the stairs before Maniac found holes in both of them.. Pfft. Easier way down anyway. :p

Peek inside the gas holder near the top.

There were two scaffolds on either side of the building, upon getting into the grounds we were quickly contending with a mass of cameras, PIR floodlights and staff on patrol, so we headed straight towards the closest route upwards. This didn't actually go all the way to the main roof so we had to free climb the last 20 feet or so up an earthing cable, did notice in pics afterwards the other scaff went nicely to the top. ;/ pfft.

Up on the cathedral rooftop, was quite easy to move around although I was always keeping one eye on the torch beams below, apart from dashing over a few really exposed sections it was pretty relaxed up there.

That's Maniac above who's camera battery died and so instead tried to get into as many photos as possible. D': haha

Looking upwards at some detailed stonework. There were lots of good example of these but often in the more exposed areas.

This was the only tower with any lights on in it.

One of those 'really exposed sections' of roofing, scaff helped a lot though and a fun slide down the other end. :p

Ultimately couldn't get any higher nor view any indoor sections, every door we found was shut tight.

Looking towards the front of the cathedral with the Norman towers.

    More Lego faced Maniac. :D

Was a fun evening even though we couldn't get any further, cheers to Maniac for putting most of the work in on the planning, logistics and probably a pint as well I can't remember. :Not Worthy
