I couldn't find anything about the history of this place, but I believe it was part of the entire industrial complex around the Luxembourgish/French border that gradually got abandoned when all the natural resources were used up and when Luxembourg underwent the transition from a country predominantly led by the steelworks industry to an economy mainly driven by the tertiary sector. I really liked how nature ran through the entire place, as if it finally wanted to reclaim it after all those years.

Translation: Arbed (former name of the steel industry now called Arcelor Mittal) is better when it's empty, at least we can tag its walls. Thanks Mittal (owner of Mittal Steel)...

I've found this quite touching, especially since at the moment the remaining steel industries are facing the danger of being shut down as well.
