South House - Cheadle Royal Hospital (November 2014)

Cheadle Royal Hospital, originally the Manchester Royal Lunatic Asylum, is a psychiatric hospital situated on Wilmslow Road in Heald Green, Greater Manchester, England.
Built between 1848-1849, the main building is Grade II listed and was designed by Richard Lane in the Elizabethan style.

The main part of the hospital is now a modern unit owned by the priory group

Can you please add the date to the thread title and also some history about the location before the photos too.

    Thanks

The place itself looks battered but I like your shots and processing style. The black and white, high grain and lighting work really nicely together. Something a bit different! :thumb

Thanks, when I snapped the shots it looked a little less dramatic so I added the sepia tone and tweaked a few settings on LR for added effect.

Looks good, I'd love that place. Some of the more trashed hospitals are great in my opinion. Cheers for sharing. :thumb

Unfortunately its been gutted and left for nature to take its course. Literally no equipment is left and most of the floor (concrete and wood) is in questionable condition - I didn't venture onto the 3rd floor of the main building as looking at the ceiling from the 2nd floor (the floor of the 3rd) it looked completely unsafe and unsupportive.
