Visited with Ratfink and Analepsis. Thanks again, both of you.

The deep level shelters are something I've always wanted to see. That and the 'ghost' stations of the LU. It's something I was researching long before I took up exploring full-time. I never thought I'd get to see one though, and although Clapham North was open earlier in the year, I missed out on it, due to being spotted by someone in the flats opposite.. I don't think they realised what we were doing, but didn't want us there either way.
When I finally got round to going back there was a shiny new padlock hanging off the door. Gutted!

Last month, I was discussing possibilities of explores with Analepsis, and he mentioned how the entrance to this shelter was currently surrounded by a building site.
So a week or two later, I got a text from Ratfink saying he was back about. Perfect excuse to get underground.

We had heard a rumour of security on site, which is understandable really. What we didn't expect was infa-red cameras, and what looked like PIR's. It was also pouring with rain, so while seeking shelter under some scaffolding next door, we discussed our options.

We then saw security come out and stand on the corner looking at us. Bugger. He'd obviously over-heard our conversation about getting in.
We walked off back into the station and made it look as though we were going home. No way was I going home without my deep shelter.

So with some perseverence, and Ratfink working his magic, we were soon over the wall, and making our way through the assualt course they'd created before we reached our access point.
    We were in.

Now I know some of you complain that the shelters are too boring and repetitive, but I loved it, and it fully made up for missing out on North.

    Anyway, on with the pictures:

I'm guessing they're currently stripping the place out, from it's last owners storing archives down there. So the original beds and signage were largely still in place..

Every few minutes, the whole shelter would shake, and you can hear the train above pulling into Clapham South.

The original enterance to the shelter from Clapham South station, now bricked up at the top.

The lower levels, which still contained the original switchgear, emergency generator and even a mercury-arc rectifier!

I believe this is now sealed up again.

    Thanks for looking.
