After the morgue mooch, Myself, Urblex and Acid Reflux had a good look around the hospital. Hard to believe this place shut fairly recently, they certainly don't fuck about in Wakefield, it's well smashed up inside. That said I really enjoyed the wander around this place, managed to get up the tower aswell which was cool (cheers Acid). A more ominous feel became apparent the deeper we got into the hospital with boarded up and dark corridors, discarded needles, piles of old clothes and loads of empty food cartons/wrappers strewn around the floors. Just as the mooch was coming to an end Urblex whispered that he could hear someone. Sure enough the faint sound of footsteps became louder until a thick set bloke with mad tattoos running down his neck appeared out of the darkness. Acid Reflux blasted him with is head lamp which did not seem to phase him at all. Wild eyed and sweating heavily he asked where the exit was, thanked us for the info and carried on. Strange ending to a great night.

Clayton Hospital is named after Thomas Clayton, a mayor of Wakefield and was founded in 1854. It was an amalgamation of Wakefield General Dispensary, founded in 1787, and the Wakefield House of Recovery, founded in 1826. Wakefield General Dispensary was for out-patients and the Wakefield House of Recovery was for poor in-patients suffering from infectious diseases.
In 1852 the Wakefield Union Workhouse was completed and its hospital wards accomodated pauper invalids and fever cases, so that the House of Recovery was closed in 1854. In 1863 Mayor Clayton financed an expansion and the institution was re-named 'The Clayton Hospital and Wakefield General Dispensary'. The site moved from Dispensary Yard to the present site in 1876 and the new building was opened in 1879.By 1948 the name was changed to Clayton Hospital and it had a capacity of 200 beds.

Cool, we were nearly in danger of only having about 6 reports from here on the first page. Good work...

You mean i spent all that time lighting the place up for you, and you only post a few shots ?? :D

    Nice ones mate :thumb

Good to finally meet you mate, and Urblex again :)

Was a nice relaxed mooch ......er some of the time lol There"s a reason i said no to the basement at that time of night .......i don"t like dead ends :)

Sneaking a rear end shot eh, cheeky. i"m sure there was some reason i took all my gear....can"t just remember why ;)

It"s a pity the Tw@ts have finally clubbed together to buy a spray can and ruin the only remaining windows and the Theatre doors/ wall etc :(

As for the Walking Dead..... a Head shot might not have worked lol

Did not want to go to pic heavy mate:)

Thanks again for showing us around and lighting the spot up for the pics. Cool bit of kit that, even managed to slightly take the edge of the brute:thumb

Yeah the Walking Dead, should have got a shot of that lad caught in the lamp of doom. That would have looked very zombie like
