    Visited with REEF, another fun day out mate:thumb

    The earliest mention of the limeworks in Cocking was in 1715 and the chalk pit itself in 1768. It was abondoned in 1999. Over the years the site had an aerial ropeway, an overhead crane and a tramway.

    We walked up the long hill to the chalk pit itself and found the two excavators

    They were both the same model, Ruston Bucyrus RB-22 Dragline excavators
