visited with REEF, Riddlers and Sick.

Last one from me tonight. We had a look at Horsham as well but i've already photographed it to death so i'm sure one of the others will do a report.

Great condition this post seeing as it closed in 1968! Rabbit skeletons all over the floor though... good to see the bunks still in situ.

    more from me soon...

update on the post following a drive by last week, 2 years on, the hatch is now locked and the surface features had been painted, i can only guess the bunker is being restored.

This is one of a couple that I have been fixing back up. ...Not totally sure what I'm doing with it yet, but after visiting it again earlier this year I decided it would be a good project for the summer and I could see that it was soon going to be getting a lot more run down than it was as the hatch was open as the lock had rusted of many years ago. So I thought I would step in a maintain it to prevent that from happening.

So far I have removed a load of rust from all the metal work inside and out, and repainted it all in nice rust resistant paint. That was quite satisfying! Inside the metal work on the hatches counter weight was surprisingly all in very good condition. The ladder had rusted quite severely at the bottom of it due to water in the sump and it coming in from the open hatch. There was loads of dirt inside, and freakishly also lots of rabbit skeletons. The poor things had been jumping down a vent shaft that the louvre was damaged on. That's now fixed. I've managed to save one of the metal blast shutters down bellow, i'm in the process of trying to free another up, but it was badly corroded due to the broken louvre above. They do both look quite good though with there new coat of silver hammerite.

I still haven't finished this one and am planning when its done to have painted the floor grey, as that's bare concrete and either painted with floor paint or has colliery flooring on ones that have seen more use. Polytile the ceiling and possibly the walls. And rewire and put florescent lighting in and fix the old 12v light.

...Anyway, there's a bunch of other stuff I have done and other things I'm planning to do.

I've taken a load of pictures...
