    During 1991-1995 Croatian War of Independence was fought, which was a consequence of the fact that Croatia and other republics declared themselves as independent states, free from the former Yugoslavia, with a protracted war that row, which broke both tourism and industry.

    The Aluminium smelter in the pictures was Yugoslavia's largest producer of aluminum, and during the war arose production problems that affected the entire country's metal industry. During the war, annual production was approximately 25% of normal production.

    A bit unclear on what then caused the final abandonment, damage from war or environmental concerns. However, the biggest part of the site is already grated, leaving little stately brutal concrete, which may be gone soon....
