    Hi All
This was my first ever urban ex visit (and all by myself) - TBH I was bricking it so apologise for the level of pictures. I had seen images of this place on here and thought it would be an awesome first visit. As you can see its in a pretty bad state now. I can image some metal scroungers have been in. Still had a charm about it. Hopefully I can relax at the next one :)

    The History

Crookham Court (sometimes called Harlequin Manor) is a mansion in Berkshire built around 1850, when a previous manor house on the same grounds was destroyed by fire. The building was added to over the next 50 years in two further phases.

Crookham Court served many purposes over the years. Originally built as a family home, but later became a junior school for the children of military personnel serving at nearby RAF Greenham Common. Once the air force had left the area the house sat unused until 1961 when it was purchased and redeveloped for use as a boarding school. The school was operational until 1990, after which time the rooms were used as bedsits until 1997.

A well-publicised case of child abuse by several members of staff was revealed in 1988 when a new head teacher took over the school. Three men were convicted including the principal who was also the owner of the building. Over 20 years later another teacher was also convicted when another victim came forward.

Wow, such a shame to see Crookham go the way it has. Used to be lovely back in the day.

Looks like they have gotten cosy with the rug below.

Was going to stop in here on the way back from Guildford last week, shame it's ended up like this, some of the older pictures of the place looked lovely.

September 2015, I visited yesterday, sadly building work has started and it looks like most of it is to be demolished and 14 new houses for the super rich built.

Its a shame but the place was being wrecked - walked in on a photographer throwing paint over a model in one of the only un-wrecked rooms the second time I went there.
Thanks for the update - happy explores elsewhere :)

Sadly I visited yesterday 22nd September and building work has started, I was told half the main house is an add on and not listed so is being demolished and 14 new houses for the super rich are to be built on the land, the other side of the house will be turned into apartment's for the rich. Still the scum of the area, (I met some, rich kids with nothing to do) had almost destroyed the buildings, funny that, as the building has now gone to far to be saved in less than a year, making getting planning easier! I have visited this house for years and yes the roof was in poor condition, the add on was done more that 100 years ago and its was almost imposable to tell it was not all built at the same time, I think if the owner had made the effort it could of been saved, turned into a hotel, apartment's, etc and saved but, as always Money talks and a lovely old house, 1700'S has gone for ever.
