    Hey guys,

I know this place has been done 100's of times over the past few years and yes it was better when it wasn't as trashed and graffiti'd but here's a report on my visit to Crookham Court, Newbury.

At first me and a mate did the usual locations; classrooms, library, church etc. But when in the main building we saw there was a opening onto the roof, through navigating our way around and managing to squeeze through a tiny hole in a way above a sink, we managed to get to a ladder leading to the rooftops. I've not seen or heard of anyone getting up there before but was definitely worth it. We also managed to find a small opening which led to a basement/cellar. This was pretty much untouched and looked as though it was used as a photography darkroom, mini-gym and maybe a detention centre?

Our time there came to an end when we heard loads of kids running around the place, we managed to scare the life out of them. The look on their faces.. priceless!

Anyway, here's some pics that I got of the place. Nothing special but was good fun!

Nice pics. Roof is very fun - way up feels like you're in Shawshank or something!

Did you take any in the basement itself? The ghostbusters mural is pretty spectacular. Amazing that they also have a cold war era bunker too.

We did get into the basement and I saw the ghostbusters mural, was pretty cool! the basement was probably the creepiest bit, sent shivers up my spine a little! where's the bunker? there was a random hole in the wall in the cellar.. any ideas what that is for? would not dare poke my head through it haha

Yeah basement was very creepy, although I must say for me the piano room in the outbuildings was the scariest of the lot! Very intrigued by mention of that hole, will have to check it out sometime :)

I can't recall exactly where the bunker is, possibly on the ground floor in what could have been an art room or kitchen or something. Has a huge metal door and very cramped inside.

there is a way to get onto the rooftops as well but do have to be quite careful when up there. I know a few people got caught by the caretaker the other day but he seemed ok, I guess people with cameras is ok.. youths smashing up the place however maybe not. didn't see the bunker, may have missed it! I know there was a photography darkroom which looked cool but had been filled up with about 100 doors that had been taken off the hinges. the piano was pretty cool, although now smashed to pieces. did you see the church bit as well?

Yes I did see the church, if you mean on the ground floor of the outbuildings. Shame neither the piano or organ in the chapel work, I would've loved to be able to play them. Up to a few years ago I'm sure they were intact given how the building looks in much earlier reports, which is a real shame. I suspect it's not a great deal of time before it really does become dangerous.

What makes me wonder is why a lot of the place is preserved as if it were hastily abandoned, while at the same time some of the remainder was used as residential accommodation as recently as 2007. Difficult to see how the two could exist in parallel.

I've said the same to others.. it'll be only a matter of time before it completely collapses or until someone seriously hurts themselves there, especially with loads of kids running about the place! I had a couple of close calls with wooden floor panels just giving away, almost beneath my feet. I didn't realise it was only 2007 that it was used, that's crazy! I've seen pics from just last year where it was almost in immaculate condition, now there's not one window unbroken and hardly any floor visible. I've just made a thread about Tottenham House in Great Bedwyn, that place would be in mint-condition but would mean breaking into it. But with 103 rooms, it'd be incredible!
