All in all this place was scheiße. But it gets a mention as the first sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis, funded by a private company for it's workers, in Europe. And the company name, BASF. The older 1892 building is the most interesting even though I suspect I didn't get into the best part. The newer, larger, building is pretty boring with the best bit being the kitchens. It would seem it was used simply as a rest and recuperation facility by BASF until it closed as there is no evidence of anything medical whatsoever.
