Not sure if this has been covered on here or not, either way a more up to date post can only help, Right?

Pretty easy to find and to get to as it is a disused railway line which runs parallel with the active line pretty close to Alfreton train station.
the other end leads out at Clover Nook industrial estate, as can be seen in the google maps pic.

Unfortunately i only got a picture of the entrance as i was concentrating more on what i was standing on walking through, its pretty dark and alot longer than it seems with a few openings in the top which let in a little light but not a great deal.

Getting to the tunnel however is a bit of a ball-ache in terms of scurrying through thorn bushes and climbing wire fencing, although getting out is simpler as there's an electric box next to a fence to climb up and over. There are cameras but i'm guessing this is more to prevent vandalism of the live track than to keep people away from the disused tunnel.

Finally, sorry to put a downer on the name of the place but i don't know why its called dead mans tunnel? i'm guessing old stories kids tell as they're scaring the crap out of each other

Anyways hopefully should anybody decide to have a gander they'll be better prepared than i was haha kinda decided to nip and have a look but expected it to be closed off.

    Thanks for reading.

    Finchie! :cool
