    History
Grade II listed building built between 1844 and 1848. Capacity was for up to 200 patients, with over spill taken into the nearby Pool Parc Asylum near Ruthin after 1949 (I reported this location here: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/pool-parc-lunatic-asylum-ruthin-august-2015.t98810). Shut down in sections betweem 1991 and 1995. Featured on an episode of Most Haunted in 2008.

    The Explore
Turned up at sunrise in an attempt to beat Elwyn in; turns out this was a good tactic! We gained access the usual way, and made our way to the main front building by zig-zagging through the buildings staying inside as much as possible.

Nearly craped myself at one point as I heard a large dog barking outside the front of the building. I thought he busted us...but I am certain it was a dog walker on the main road. Phew! First day with my new lens so I took a lot of photos to "test" it out.

    The Photos
Full album on Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/obsidian_urbex/albums/72157656932371649). Will just post the highlights here; as this was my first asylum there are still a lot as I was pretty giddy and excitable (...more so than usual...)

Some nice shots there, but you are wrong where you were talking about the isolation cells as that bit was the administration block, no isolation cells in that bit.

Think these are my favourites shots I've seen of this place (I've seen a lot)

Didn't realise they were furnaces as well, thought they were some kind of silo of some sort :)

The silo holds the coal, the building just below the silo appears to have a dug out and isnt too far from a wall of machinery that looks like it could be a boiler system or generator.

I'm putting 2+2 together here and could be mistaken but I think all of that is related to power and/or heat as the grounds was said to be almost completely self sufficient.

Some nice angles there and little bits I haven't seen before, that chapel roof is probably one of the most intact(ish) parts of the whole place. I see someone has put a fridge door back on the slab stump lol

Some nice shots there well done with your new set up as well ;)

There's still some decent shots to be had from the old girl if you look hard enough. Although some people it seems are going mainly for the Elwyn experience (shakes head)

And also well done on getting horizontal pics from here . I thought the Asylum had partially fallen down a sink hole with some recent 45 degree corridor etc postings ;)

One comment I will make is the large Watermarks detract from the image somewhat ...normally you just Watermark your pics with whatever name and stick them in a named Album rather than naming every picture with the Album title ?

And that's coming from someone with a dodgy variable Watermark lol

And if I remember correctly the so called isolation cells were supposed to have been mock ups from its "Most Unlikely To Be Haunted" experience .....just before it got torched ironically ........by spirits .......or Petrol ?

Looking forward to your next posts lol.

These and Ruthin were the first ones I did...I have a more subtle watermark now with just my name/logo thingy XD

Aye I know part of the "cells" are fake and staged, kinda spoils all the fun...boo his!
