So I'm currently in the market for a new lens and DigitalRev is looking like a well priced grey market distributor. Had a quick search on google and found a fair few mixed reviews, quite a few are good but there's some about long delivery times and poor customer service.

Has anyone on here had any experience with them (good or bad)? I'm aware of how the arrangement works with import tax and custom and the potential risk of being stung when it's shipped over here etc. Or should I quit being a cheapskate and pay a bit more to use a UK retailer?

I've bought from them on a number of occasions (bodies, lenses and memory cards etc) with no problems at all. If I were you, I'd go to Panamoz instead, they're cheaper than didge rev and if you do the bank transfer method you get a further 5% off. Bought 2 5D3 bodies from there and a 24-70 II for cheap(er) and they arrived in about 3 working days with no customs issues.

Bit dubious about that bank transfer option....if I go with that then I stand to save about £30 which is a decent amount. More research needed here, thanks though mate

I used them to buy my latest body and lens. The price was fair game, I struggled to find it cheaper anywhere else, but the delivery time left a lot to be desired... Was supposed to take about 3 days but it actually took about 9/10 to arrive. Other than that, I thought they were ok :)

Paramoz or Cotswold cameras UK seller no import duties or customs or delivery charges selling grey imports with 3 years full UK warranty . All.the questions and answers you'll ever need info are on their site aloha with 100% feedback

Of course it's all relevant to whichever brand and model your chasing as even on imports there's quite a large difference.

I've never had any issues with import models just the supplying company I used to use got raided by Custom & excise for not paying taxes and did a runner or some such thing lol

I've never had a problem with DigitalRev, but if you'd rather deal with someone closer to home, try HDEW cameras, based in the UK and with real people you can talk to.

Buying grey import goods is always going to carry a risk. What you need to weigh up is if that company suddenly disappeared would you really miss the money you've lost. If the answer is yes, it might be worth looking for a UK seller and paying that little bit more, think of it as an insurance policy. You have to remember that what these companies are doing is breaking the law as they are not declaring the items for import duty as is their obligation so customs and exercise will eventually catch up with them. If your order happens to be in the system when they do, there's no chance of getting your money back. Use a credit card if you do order with them, then you might be able to claim on the purchase insurance you get with all credit cards if the worst happens. :thumb
