Hi Folks. Been an avid spectator on this site for many years now, but this is my first report.

Drakemyre Works, Dalry, Ayrshire - Johnstone Castings & Engineering Ltd / Lomond Castings Ltd

Been scoping this site out for a number of years now. Drove past it yesterday and seen some access through the office block at the front, so brought my friend Barnaby back later on the evening to take a look around.

Drakemyre Works in Dalry was home to an aluminium castings foundry called Johnstone Castings and Engineering Ltd between 1990 and 2003, before it went into administration. It then became Lomond Castings (under the same owners) and survived another few years before closing its doors in 2007.

I worked in the building as an apprentice when I was younger, so was quite sad to see it in this sorry state.

The building is pretty messed up. Not much to look at in all honesty, but as I worked there it held sentimental value.

    Hope you like the photos!!
