Dreadnought, more properly known as The Malago storm water interceptor, was constructed between 1971 and 1974.

According to thisisbristol.co.uk the drain runs for 2 miles

It also contains a sewer overflow for what I believe is the southern foul sewer. Mmmmm... sewer fresh!

As well as taking the water from the Malago,

it also acts as an storm diversion for Pigeonhouse stream

All that is well and good but the engineering involved is something else.

More than anything, it was the size that astonished me. Bunker in Warrington is designed for a one in thirty year storm, so this is one in a hundred year storm?!

    For comparison.... Bunker

One more vanity shot before we leave

Dreadnought is excellent, Bristol is excellent. I've only scratched the surface and hope to get some more stuff done when I return.

Thanks again to all involved. If I haven't pissed people off too much, then I hope we meet.
    Thanks for looking :thumb
