After reading a lot on 'Leads and Rumours' about this place, it was nice to spend a rather cold winter morning visiting it. All the hype however made this a tad disappointing as the school didn't have much left inside.. pretty much stripped... and aside from a few school books, kitchen appliances and a few notices dotted about, there wasn't that much of interest to see.
However, its another off the list... and that's always a good thing :)

The school originally opened on December 12, 1910, as Dunston Hill Council School.

Now, nearly a century later, the school has moved to new premises on the nearby Kingsmeadow site in Market Lane..

In 1919 the school became the boys department of Dunston Hill Council Intermediate School.

It was again reorganised in 1928, when the junior boys were transferred to Dunston Council Mixed School and it became a senior mixed school.

During the Second World War, a bomb shelter underneath the school served the community.

Then on April 25, 1960, the school moved to new premis-es in Market Lane and was renamed Dunston Hill Secondary Modern School. The school was transformed into its current state as Dunston Hill Community Primary School in September 1992.

Among the school's former pupils are ex-Newcastle footballer Rocky Hudson and AC/DC star Brian Johnson.
