Report - Ely Cathedral - Roof! 20.3.07

    Today’s task is the octagon, not normally my thing, and not sure if this should be here or on ‘Other’.

    Here is the octagon from the floor.

    These are the largest of the 5,000 organ pipes at mid level. The bass notes are well, well, below human hearing. Hang on, don’t you poo your self if that happens…

    Crossing the roof of the nave to get to the octagon I think I’ve been spotted! P.S if that’s you can I have the photo?

    The whole structure is timber :eek:

    The archangels are actually painted on panels which you can open

    A deep breath, and look down, 140ft to the alter below

    All this lead can’t be light, especially only supported on 1,000 year old timber

    The white spheres are Feltwell, 25 miles away (I only had a 55mm lens on)
