That's the history bit (greatfully nicked from HERE) so onto my waffle. :D

I very nearly didn't make this one as I had a meeting planned with my first ever sploring buddy CavKing but fortunately he wasn't going to arrive in town until mid-late afternoon so managed to go in the end. The hottest day of the year as SJP said, found myself & Space Invader Dover bound to meet up with SX Riffraff for an early explore, to be joined later on by sirjonnyp and Silverainbow.

We met SX at a McD's just outside Dover (no I didn't eat any of the shite), had a coffee and a chat and then headed over to Fan Bay, this was my first time on this one so an added bonus, I did mistake it for the one on a very steep slope at the top of the cliffs and had serious doubts about the grippage of my converse and the thought of falling a couple hundred feet to kiss the seaweed but as usual my sieve-like head got Fan Bay and Langdon Hole muddled up so entry was a doddle and I'm still here to type the tale :)

With SI's awesome navigational skill we were at the entrance in no time at all and after a bit of a wriggle and slide, down in the depths of Fan Bay taking my first peek at a very clean set of tunnels, now I know the history above mentions some sections being very unstable but tbh I say no evidence of that and would say it is safe as houses down there, for nutterz like us who love that kinda thing anyway :)

Enough of the blarney and on with the pics I hear you holler. :D

Couple of brick shots to start cause they have some old writing on them, it would appear they once formed part of the bog wall and were re-used.

Bit of war time noughts & crosses

Impromptu shot of Space Invader (up front) & SX Riffraff

Unlined chalk section with wooden supports, I've not seen many of these in the deep shelters I've done in the area, Z-Rockets has some but not many.

Girder & corrugated steel section which makes up the majority of the building style throught the system.

Light fitting sans wiring looking at the junction covers.

Just liked the round effect of the shadow against the angles of the doorways in this.

Section from unlined chalk into lined.

Unlined chalk section with the characteristic flint veins which some utter prick has decided to spray paint, your time will come fcukwit!

    Bit of early chalk carving

Tunnel junction which I'm quite pleased with.

How the chalk is packed over the lined sections.

Looks as if there was an extension planned which was never built?

    Heading toward the exit.

Old galvanised water tanks in perfect condition.

Looking up the first set of steps.

    And back down em.

    Just fcuking about really....

Yeah that is a pair of sunnies on my head, they never leave my noodle and are safer there than in my pocket :D

That's ya lot poppets, it's well past beer o'clock and I'm all pic'd out.
