Memories of this place are strong for me; I used to go for walks with my mum and the dog every day along the canal, hoping for the little forklift truck to go between the buildings. Well, after a quick internet search hoping for a trip down memory lane, I read the place is moving, Factory leaves Disley after 64 years operating - Local - Derbyshire Times so perhaps the place could open up for a potential explore. The place is massive as you can see, and has a central access road that allows lorries to drive all the way through the factory complex. Could be a good one.

Do you know when exactly this factory will be abandoned? could be a good explore and easily accesibly from where i live, although would rather not run into any security! :)

Haven't a clue. I don't live in the UK anymore, otherwise I'd have been down to have a look. If you live so close, why don't you? If you'd read the article, you'd see it was written mid march - over a month ago. The company's been there over 50 years, so the site's probably pretty unique to the packaging industry. My bet is that it'll get knocked down. If you access the canal near the Redhouse lane pack-horse bridge and walk towards Newtown (not Marple) there used to be a little dock for boats... Can't remember for the life of me whether it had a door or if it's just concrete wall.

Quick update for all of you! It tuns out I was right in thinking the place would be demo'd - planning permission has been granted for 160 dwellings (just what Britain needs, less factories and more bloody houses eh?) This brick of a document details it all for you... Ctrl F and type in fibrestar drums to save you sifting through the best of Cheshire council's minutes! http://www.investincheshire.com/dbimgs/AR_CE June 2012_Web.pdf
