Hi, was wondering if the Ford Dagenham plant Car Park still looked like this? Don't know if anyone here ever visits it?

Also, does anyone know where this is? I came across the photo a while back, but there was no info with it. I know it's somewhere in England, maybe close to London! Prob not much help. Could be near a train station. I know that's little to nothing to go on!!! I can't even remember the site I got it from. Sorry!!!

    Thanks...

I dont want to cause any aggravation, but Magpie... can you calm down a tad. Some of these guys are new, and aggressiveness may put them off from coming here again. I can understand that their venues may not be "elite" enough for you, but I for one welcome them coming here and posting. They can only learn by their experiences... as did we all.

Besides, some of the new members have put a lot into their first reports and they have made for interesting reading.
    We all started somewhere...

Hell, my first documented report had a "pic n mix" sized photos that were laughable...! But to me, it was all about getting out there and i was pleased with the response i got... it was constructive, and inspired me to go out again. I would hate for people to come here and be too intimidated to go out again.

But, on the other hand I do hear what your saying about venues.. yes, a "car park" is not exactly what we would like to see, but surely there is a more tactful way of putting it than scaring and intimidating a person away from the site.

true.. the OP was rather vague to say the least in the 'area'.. so i stand corrected on that one.

Even so, lets give any newcomers a fighting chance, as we all had to start somewhere, and going back to my first report again.. i had replies of constructive criticism which taught me what to put up next, what to avoid doing and so on... it encouraged me to get out there again and explore more... which is what i want for the new generations of explorers to do.

Hell, i went from a derelict industrial site to Ushaw moor seminary in a week two year ago... from the encouraging remarks and inspiration form here... and would love to see other new people do just that.

And to the OP... your photo of 'said place somewhere in England'.... it really doesnt look all that inspiring,,, but may hold some interesting stuff... get yourself searching on google for it, and have a look from rafters to basement... you may have found a stripped building or you may have found a time-warped gem.... up to you to get out there and have a look. Wouldnt it be much more satisfactory to know that youve done the research yourself?
Most of the places ive done this year havent warranted a report, but every now and again you come across a hidden gem...

    Best of luck :)

    A genuine response,

The car park you talk about, was used by fords to store new cars (a VHC) that were built at dagenham, when car production stopped it was used to store the new cars that were imported from Belgium.

Now, the factory only makes diesel engines and body panels so no need for the car park.

It is now used to store salt for the roads and has the biggest pile of salt you will ever see.

    Morning Daveyboy,

Hailing from an area not far from Dagenham, I can say that the car park is still as are some of the buildings. In my humble opinion, not worth the risk of UE as it's really quite spartan, although, I imagine some of the bridgework where the A13 and other roads that pass over it could be good fun to look around. You can guarantee there'll be some sort of Security Presence there however as it is still active. Last time I saw it live would be about 7-9 years ago when there was a massive stock of Ford Mavericks parked in the holding area.

That pub looks like one close to Romford, on the A12 roundabout at Gallows Corner (I could be Wrong). As it's boarded up though, you can be relatively certain that it'll either be levelled or empty, the latter being a good excuse for a wander (Although, after working in the closed pub trade for 10 months, I can say they're normally pretty poor!).

    Hope this helps.
    Ben.

Nice one original poster. the Ford Dagenham car plant is a massive site, complete with its own little railway, powerstation etc. In fact in the car park pic you can see an windmill generating power in the distance ( this is separate to the power station) As stated their operations have been scaled back hence some of their land is not used for its original purpose.

If your local you should have a look about, maybe even get on the train in either direction a few stops or use satellite view to see if you spot anything else.

Good luck and go for it.

Well to be fair to magpie, both locations look lame, to say the least. I can see where he's coming from. Those locations wouldn't be amiss on DerP.

Anyway, thanks Cat for keeping the thread sane.
