There's only one way to top off an early morning explore, and that's with an impromptu afternoon explore of course.

Travelling home from a couple of days on the waves, trying to keep my mind focused on the dark road ahead, "RING-RING RING-RING...Hello?...Fresh! Where are you right now?"

Suffice to say, I wasn't in a position to attend the call of duty no matter how much I buried the go pedal.

The call wasn't relating to this report, another report will follow soon, but it did create the opportunity for this one thankfully.

With a couple of hours spare before we had to make like a pair of Bananas, we parked, pondered and penetrated our way in.

With the usual sense of achievement, minor nerves and shallow breathing, we systematically worked through countless doors looking for the cells. After burning a good hour or so taking pictures and not having located the cells, we made our way to the upper floors. Aside from a bit of window-ledge surfing to get some roof shots, there was nothing too interesting to report on. Dropping back to basement level, the sight of small glass blocks gave a clear indication of where to head for the elusive cells. In hindsight, it's obvious; I've seen the blocks from Edward Street many times, I've even studied the plans prior! Heading back through the station to drop into the stairwell where the cells would start..."We've been here before, odd!" On closer inspection, what appeared to be a wall, was in fact a reinforced painted plate blocking the doorway complete with mock skirting board, cheeky. At this point we decided not to push our luck having been on full view to a block of flats, and made our escape with the thought that they had sealed the cells prior to closure.

Historical investigation. Bagged and tagged, not to be used in a court of law.

I'm unable to put a definitive date on the year of construction, but forensic analysis of aerial surveillance and general intel' it can be narrowed to the early 1950s. It's noted that Stockport Police Band was located at the station in 1952.

The Lee Street and Edward Street elevations are of Portland limestone construction, with the general construction being of shuttered concrete. The station is split over four levels. The basement primarily designed for the acceptance, processing and detention of people. The ground, first and second floor containing all the offices normally associated with a police station.

The station closed in early November 2012, with officers being relocated between Fred Perry House, sharing premises with the Borough Council to save money, and the newer Cheadle Heath station.

ISIS UK Ltd have put forward proposals to convert the existing 30,000 Sq foot building into 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, totaling 53 dwellings. To this date, it appears to be in the consultancy phase. It will, if successful, be converted into a five level building. An extra floor will be build with a roof terrace included.

The building falls within the Covent Garden Regeneration Zone which is to be a housing led redevelopment.

I've been in here, wasn't an explore though... Good to see you two above ground, although I think you need to deploy the safety dingys in the near future....

We're like a pair of those white bugs you find deep underground, translucent in sunlight. Been looking to deploy for a while, need a juicy job to warrant lumping 50Kg of rubber about :thumb

    Bloody hell! No, sorry :(

There's one thing to say about gaining entry to a cop shop, but to pinch toiletries, well that's just rather naughty indeed :D
