    My first report - sorry if it's not that good, if it ends up in the 'Recycle bin' so be it...

    Visited this site today - a little (sketchy) history - it was built in 1914, along with Fort North Sutor, on the opposite headland, to provide protection for the naval fleet based in Invergordon. The site was extended at the start of WW2, and was closed in 1956, having been 'care and maintenance' only since 1945

    Access to the first part of the site was easy - a few bunkers, a couple of buildings - remains of the Navl Camp I believe, a generator house etc, and a Fire Command post, complete with remains of it's camofluage paint, and steel blast shutters still present.

    Closer shot showing blast shutter, paint etc.[IMG]
    Indoor shot, looking out to sea[IMG][/IMG]
    Concrete Mounts in Fire Command Building[IMG][/IMG]
    Inside a Bunker - i reckon this must have been the Engine room as it were - evidence of soundproofing, Concrete mounts, and some BIG cables [IMG][/IMG]

    All well and good so far, a few other bunkers and buildings to see, but we wanted to get to the main event - the gun emplacements, magazines etc - but when we headed down the hill.....[IMG][/IMG]
    :eek::eek::eek:
    Now to give you an idea - when I shone my torch into the first bunker as I went in, there was a pair of orange eyes reflected back at me - a mouse or summat I guess, and that scared me daft LOL, so I wasn't going to tangle with Wild Boars they seemed a little narked at our presence....
    So that was that, no more exploring:(
    One last shot of the command post - with a rather neat little bunker vent cowl in the foreground.[IMG][/IMG]
    And a shot of the view the place enjoyed - must have made being posted there more bearable[IMG][/IMG]

    Yeah, I had hoped to see all the good bits - didn't realise the Boars were there - see map below for full extent of site...[IMG][/IMG]
    Shame really, still, hopefully North Sutor will be Boar-free:D
