Dunno it anyone remembers a post about this a few weeks back. The thread seems to be deleted now, which isn't surprising as most of you thought it was a sh!t post and a motorway service station was just too boring.

There were a couple of replies though (me included) that agreed it was an interesting structure just from the point of view it always catches my eye when I'm driving on the M6 and its one of those crazy bits of 60s architecture that was supposed to be ultra modern but now looks weird and ugly. Anyway the post that was made on this forum just seems to be have been a cut and paste job from this link - so you can get some background info.

So there I was riding down to Blackpool for the day when I saw the Tower on the M6 and remembered the post so decided to stop and investigate. Hopefully you wont be too unkind - this post is probably destined for the sh!t section but it was an interesting half hour working out how to get up into the tower - which I did after a bit of trial and error.

Ok first a couple of shots of the tower

    Early shot from above link:

    And how it is now...

I got up to the top and sure enough its just used to store junk, the red door in the photo is to the outside balcony but it was locked up tight:

The rest seems to be used as training rooms - it had "Moto Training Room" on the door so I put two and two together there.

There were also some knackered old toilets with the obligatory Urbex abandoned chair(s). Toilets look ok in this photo but they obviously weren't used, tiles were starting to fall off and and bogs hadn't been flushed for a while if you know what I mean.

Sadly the old restaurant seems to be split up into small rooms now and I could only see in the first training room in the photo which was fairly boring looking. The rest of the doors beyond this were locked up so I couldn't get any further. Doubt it would be worth it anyway, apart from admiring the views from the windows. Its a shame its not opened up to the public as although its just a motorway restaurant its something a bit unusual.

And Then I Continued My Journey to Blackpool

So finally here is a couple of shots of the new rollercoaster in Blackpool (which is where I ended up), including it here as there's been a few posts about the old Southport Pleasureland and of course the new Blackpool ride is the old Traumatizer from Southport.
