THROWAWAY HERO
April 21st, 2006, 16:56
St Margaret's and Daisy Bank Avenue
1971: 1,404 beds
Having suffered two arson attacks in the past 7 days, we thought that acces may be a little harder than it was, but getting in was rediculously easy, a huge panel of the security fence was blown out lying on the floor just begging UE's to invite themselves in.
However, we were not alone. The construction company had moved in en masse, the inner core of the buildings had already been pulled out, all that remained were the shells of the outer buildings, one of which was a pharmacy and most of the others served to be wards for many of the patients. The old building with the tower was still intact, although we couldn't get anywhere near it. What we mainly explored today were the physio department, the outbuildings, the old security building before they re-located and the buildings for hearing, awareness and reaction tests on the patients.
All was going well until my friend was spotted by the foreman, who pulled up in his 4x4, so my mate gave a cover story of a school history project we needed photographic evidence, and after he gave us the safety talk etc he started chatting and we were allowed to move closer to some of the buildings right next to the demolition machinery to capture photos.
Then we were done, thanked the guy and proceeded to make our escape from the site, which was impeded as security, who were doing a patrol, spotted us and chased us with their dogs, so we ended up running down the dual carriageway with my trousers flapping around as the crotch had split wide open when i jumped from a height and left everything flapping in the wind lol!!!
If anyone wants to see the site for themselves they need to visit sharpish as the old original buildings were being bulldozed whilst we were creeping around in the woods behind searching for access points.
