First of all i should thank Syme for the lead on this, like i already said, i would have invited people, but it was a complete spur of the moment thing in the early hours.

This is an air raid shelter in the grounds of an old school, very similar to the one seen in stepping lightlys post: here (http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=20628&highlight=school+shelter)

My first night back in Sheffield, and i wanted to get some exploring done. I remembered Syme mentioning this to me, and since it's practically across the road from where i live, i thought i'd give it a look.

The shelter itself is in the grounds of an old boys school, and the original entrances are capped off with concrete. The only way in is down the old air vents / emergency exits, however the wooden ladder to these has long dropped away.

Anyway, i was thinking, how can i get down there safely? The shaft is probably a 15ft drop. Then it dawned on me, and into the garden i went to remove the washing line ;) 2 hours and an old shelf later and i was ready to go...

The shelter itself is just a network of tunnels, and no rooms as such. Infact, considering the size of the school, the shelter is tiny. There is not much in situe, bar some old metal shelving and the odd bucket. Still nice to see inside though, i should think there are alot more of these around.

All in all a nice explore, would have liked to have taken a tripod down with me, but i appear to have lost it. Certainly worth a look if you're in the area and nice to see inside this as it's been on my nerves for weeks.
