Old Slate Mine, Middle of No-Where!!

Somewhere, in the middle of the Lake District there is a small road that takes you up a valley, on the left-hand side of the road there are some ruins of an old mining settlement, only a few buildings, nothing too obvious. There is just enough room for you to park one car in a passing place.

Walking up the mountain, past the ruins the path runs through a small gully and infront of you is a tunnel into the mountain.

Wellies are a must as the tunnel is flooded to about 4 inches, give or take.

Once through the first stretch of tunnel it opens up....

Complete with old chains, tracks, railway sleepers, a wheel barrow and the original walls built by the minors, its just like stepping back in time........ish:D
