While looking through some stuff a while ago i accidently came across some info about an old ammo store there used to be under ramsgate during WW2. After abit (actually a sh*t load) of investigating we found a way in....
i dont think this has ever been done before and all the entrances are now securly blocked up. One of them used to be under an old pub, and it looks like they used it for storage quite a while ago. The owners dont know anything about it. Not sure how well known these tunnels are, it was a big pain in the arse trying to find any info on them!! so big, that they were only mentioned briefly in one article!! Im guessing that if all the local ammo was stored there it was kept a big secret. Theres quite afew thick metal doors down there and all the ones on the main entrances look like they were bolted shut from the inside. neway…. after abit of good old fashioned recon, we got in...
from the entrance it leads into a long chalk tunnel...

After a little while theres a side tunnel of to the left with a trap door at the end. Didnt seem to lead anywhere but the inside was full of chalk...

from the bottom of the stairs to the left was blocked......

to the right it continued for a while then through a metal gate and into what looks like the main room. Pic looking back at gate......

the rooms are filled with alot of old junk. The 1st kegs half full... keg party round mine!!! lol.......

then it continues further where theres a small cove cut into the chalk on the right where we a found.......

about 10 metres further theres an old barb wire gate and another thick metal door.....

after that its blocked but we think it only leads on to another one of the entrances......

Sorry about all the pics but like i say, i dont think this ones been done before and now its all blocked up i dont think it'll get done again. There was alot of graffiti carved into the chalk dated 1940 and most of it seemed to be from scottish soldiers. hopfully got some more pics coming soon as the computer sorted.
