Found this little gem while driving by enroute to our original destination (which turned out to be a bust) Thank God for this little detour. ;)
I found out a little bit about this place from the caretaker who was more than happy to let a few "preservationists" take some photos of the place. ;)
A somewhat slick and shady minister did some financial shennanigans with this place before leaving town in the middle of the night. Left with essentially nothing and an older congregation living mostly off pensions and social security they were about to be forced to close when they merged with a younger and far different Baptist congregation. They are in the process of moving the newly merged church into this place but for now it sits there waiting for people to reuse it as a house of worship. Everything is still inside this place, aside from the doors chained shut and the slow decay of some of the walls you'd never ne able to tell this place wasn't currently in use.
