Visited here recently.

Copehill Down Village (CDV) is part of the Urban Operations Wings (UOW) run by Land Warfare Centre, Warminster (LWC) and is situated on ATE Salisbury Plain.

Copehill Down Village is the principal FIBUA (Fighting in Built Up Areas) training facility in the UK. It is designed to enable collective training for combined arms groupings at battle group level and below.

The Village was built in the 90's to resemble a german village in Bavaria, just in case the nasty Russians ever invaded. They didnt.

Since then, they have added an iraqi style village to the site made from shipping containers. Its actually quite good even if it does sound shit.

This site is guarded 24/7/365 by live firing ex military gate guards. There is infra red cameras. I advise you look from the perimeter but dont try for a bunk in, you might get shot. (terrorists rigging bombs to wipe out sqaddies dont look good)

Armed guards at Copehill down?! I've been a few times and I've not even seen a single MGS bloke, let alone MPGS! There's bugger all to guard really except the control tower.. Maybe they stick guards on when its being used for airsoft or whatever its called to stop people fiddling with stuff?
But as far as I've ever seen when I've been on ex. there and in the area; the gates are locked at night and obviously theres the IR cam's but thats it..

You can wander up and have a look without fear of getting shot, most of Salisbury plain is very much open to the public unless there's an exercise going on.. I wouldn't worry about getting shot hehe but a slightly miffed looking MGS chap might arrive if you start trying to get in..Not that there's really much to look at inside

Few of my pics;

Inside one of the houses, not much there as someone said..

Ah well, maybe they don't bother once its been handed over to a unit for an exercise, doesn't really matter anyway.

More action? How's this (not my shot sadly, I missed and didn't even set the ground on fire :< )

I'm sure I've got more kicking around that show you the facilities there, things like the confidence course and the practice houses.
