Timble Beck culvert, Leeds

A nice evening out with a mate and UE virgin from Leeds. The culvert is interesting as it was originally a cutting for the river dressed with stone. Today that cutting has been built over in sections, but the stone is still visable throughout. There are vaulted sections, corrougated iron sections that resemble a colliery, right through to modern concrete. Interesting also how the industrial buildings were shaped around the existing contours of the culvert.
The water was shallow and easy to navigate. We walked from the Meanwood area right through to Clarence Dock. Coming to the river at the end was a bit of a shock... you feel like you are just going to step into deepness!!

Us in waders on the bus back to meanwood... with some students in awe as to why we were in such attire in the city centre!
