I took a trip down to the old RAF/USAF base, RAF Upwood the other week and was amazed at the sheer size of the place.
Firstly, it's a breeze to get onto the site as a company now uses the hangers to service airline engines and they don't care if people wander around the rest of the airbase. Also, as they only use the main hangers, they've only fenced off that area, thus leaving the main base gates wide open and in turn if traffic is seen entering the site people just assume you're visiting the people in the hangers :D
So anyway, I had a wander around the huge base which has been pretty badly vandelised by kids. It got to a point where I was sick of wandering through various barracks and got bored of looking in empty rooms.
One dodgy area was towards the right hand side of the base as you come in where a USAF Clinic is based. It's a bit of a mystery as to what it is exactly given how secure it is and thus I don't think it's quite what it seems. Simon off http://www.simoncornwell.com/urbex/frames.htm was caught by security people who'd seen him from the Clinic, thus I stayed well away from the place.
Apart from that there's not much to see, just a LOT of buildings many of which are filled with sheep which is awesome as you can cause hillarious stampedes through barracks!
A few pics I took on my phone as I wasn't overly well prepared!
The guard room as you enter the base:

Some of the various, identical buildings with tanks which are used as props for airsoft people in the weekends:

What I think is the old officer's mess:

Which included a cinema/lecture room which had been subject to arson by the looks of it:

One of the 4 huge old hangers:

Two of which had been converted in morgues by the USAF as a contingency plan in case Desert Storm went drastically wrong:

And some sheep in the corridors and many of the buildings:
