Another trip with Shepy, Sonorg and Mick.

We were at a loose end with what to do with our Sunday afternoon, so headed on over here. Me being me, got freaked out being in a tunnel for the first time, either it was the tunnel, or fear of neds / chavs....

Station is incredibly vandalised, but its just so cool.

The station opened in 1894 and was closed between 1 January 1917 and 2 March 1919 due to wartime economy and again to passengers on 6 February 1939 due to the war and never re-opened, with the branch line itself to Maryhill closing on 5 October 1964. The street level station buildings were demolished in a fire in 1970, only the foundations remain with a fenced and open vent to the platforms below in a underground tunnel. Recent proposals to reopen it for train or tram traffic have so far been unsuccessful.

This is a 'virtual restoration' of the now disused railway station.
