This is easily without a doubt the best and most rewarding site i have ever done , period. Visited here with lost when i was in scotland.
It was another time to bust out the comedy dingy although as we were going into the sea it was going to be a little bit difficult. Luckily the weather was generous and the sea wasnt to choppy. After over a mile of rowing we arrived at our destination. The abandoned Oil Rig "Transocean Explorer". one of a group of five the decomissioned rigs were brought into the firth to be either scrapped or refurbished but ended up being left there.
Appart from the huge amount of rust the rig had taken it was in mint condition, Water still running, bunks, tvs, offices, it looked like someone had just decided to leave and never return. Everything was still there.
Not only was the rig Huge but it had everything, A mini cinema, Accomedation, kitchens, dining rooms, offices, control rooms. Basically everything you could want to explore. I was most surprised on how the thing was floating the ballast tanks beneath it must be at least double the size as it didnt sway a bit.
Anyways heres a few pictures to tickle your fancy.
