The home guard auxiliary units were formed in WW2 as a secret resistance group that would act in the event of a German invasion.
This operational base is in thick woods high above Arundel and is basically an underground anderson shelter. The main section is intact and the concrete escape tunnel exists but is mostly filled in with the internal entrance broken.
